Fire leaves 27 without shelter in Marietta
A Sunday night fire stretching across the length of an apartment building in Marietta has left 27 people without shelter, according to fire officials. Lt. Dan Dupree, with the Cobb County Fire Department, said the fire broke out about 7:45 p.m. at the River Heights Apartment Homes near Johnson's Ferry Road. The blaze stretched across the nearly 150-foot long building in the attic above the sprinkler system, he said. Firefighters put out the flames within two hours and investigators are now determining the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.
